Richard Chan is acknowledged as one of the pioneer leaders with more than 36 years of experience in the field of shopping centres and high-rise retail complex management industry. Richard first joined the shopping centre industry in 1980 at a time when the industry was just at its infancy stage and have gone through the exercise of transforming an existing mall into one of the leading shopping centres in Petaling Jaya in 1990. He also undertook the challenge to innovate and establish the shopping centre industry in Penang, overseeing four prime shopping centres on the island and mainland of Seberang Perai.
Realising the industry lacked the proficiency to develop and manage shopping centres with a recognised standard of professionalism, Richard formed RCMC so he could offer his extensive knowledge, expertise and services to mall management and developers.
Richard was one of the founder member and past President of PPK Malaysia (Malaysia Shopping Malls Association). He was the founder member of CASC (Council of Shopping Centres) and is a member of MRCA (Malaysian Retailers Association of Malaysia). He was also the founder member and is currently in the National Committee of BMAM (Building Management Association of Malaysia). He is an International Member of FIABCI (Malaysia) and was also a former Vice-President. He has also served as a Police Volunteer Reserve for 17 years and his last ranking was as Chief Inspector.
